Many of you will know about my ongoing battle with the P R S
- Performing Rights Society.
I am sorry to have to tell you but on Thursday 17th January 2008, The PRS had me declared bankrupt for not paying the fine that I have been disputing for the last year. This means that I am in breach of my tenancy agreement with Punch Taverns and I am no longer allowed to continue to trade at The X. The Chinese whisper machine has swung into full swing, so I see no point in saying more than that. All events that were booked are cancelled and there is nothing I can do about it. Maybe I should have seen it coming, but I did not. My very sincere apologies to all the musicians that have been let down, especially the young bands that were due to play here next month. The Exeter Hall will re-open at some point when Punch Taverns have sorted something. I suggest you contact the new manager at that time, to see if they are intending to continue with the music. I would like to thank all the musicians, especially The X Men who have supported The X over the years.
I would also like to thank all the customers for their support and the promoters:
The party is over. The PRS may have ended the music, but not the memories. I hope the memories of all the great times we've had will go forward with you. I wish you all the best and success. Thanks for sharing the live art with us. Cheers, Al & Caspardog.
